Attendees are required to have basic loop tools and a pumpkin to carve. The grocery store pumpkin carving kits are not used for this method. You’ll need clay loop tools. For these virtual classes, you’ll need to order your tools in advance. Please allow one week for shipping.
HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR PUMPKIN: This style of pumpkin carving requires a pumpkin that has thick walls. You don’t want to cut all the way through, so you’ll need a pumpkin that’s heavy for its size. Pick it up and compare it to similar pumpkins. You want the heaviest. Also try to find a pumpkin with a thick, dark green stem. That means it’s freshly harvested and will stay fresh longer before its carved (once it’s carved, it’s gonna rot). Butternut squashes are a good substitute if no pumpkins are available in your area.
